How Intermittent Fasting Changed My Life
Intermittent Fasting for Weight Loss and Mindfulness
In May 2020 I decided to embark in a challenging adventure: changing my eating habits.
I joined the 10 Day Intermittent Fasting Challenge with Denise Wakeman and Dr Ellen Britt in which they taught that intermittent fasting had absolutely nothing to do with a diet.
The teaching is based on science and facts and the idea is to schedule the period of the day when you are eating, no matter what you are eating simply sold me to the concept!
I decided to go for a 16:8 schedule which means 16 hours fasting with an eating window of 8 hours. (Update: I’m more on a 14:10 and it’s ok too)
From the time I wake up till it’s time to break my fast, I drink black coffee, unflavored water and unflavored tea. I recently added Cold Brew Unsweetened Black Coffee. The bottled version is available in major groceries from brands such as Starbucks and Stok.
Cold brewing is a method that combines ground coffee and cool water and uses time instead of heat to extract the flavor. It is brewed in small batches and steeped for as long as 48 hours. The resulting Cold Brew coffee concentrate has a velvety texture and nice cacao taste. Because there is no heat in the process, it has less acidity. Love it! You can even warm it up if you prefer to drink it hot.
As I was putting into practice the teachings from the challenge, I realized how mindlessly I was eating. Often, I was grabbing something in the pantry or fridge not because I was hungry, but to wash away frustrations, stress, and/or emotions. If you are a work-at-home entrepreneur, you’ll agree that we often go to find something to ‘munch’ on simply to get away from our desk.
This life changing challenge is so much more than just about intermittent fasting because as you will go through it, you’ll see yourself as a healthy person.
Yes, you will lose weight, which might be the main reason you’ll join, but beyond that you’ll have the opportunity to shift your focus on extending your ‘health span’ to a vibrant ‘healthy life span’.
TESTIMONIAL – Denise Wakeman interviewed Connie Ragen Green 🙂 She shares how she benefited from intermittent fasting.
Connie: Well, I guess, you know, I think we all have a fear of making big changes in our life. And, also I’m an introvert and the group is introvert-friendly. So cause you’ve described yourself as an introvert Denise and I think for many of us, but we were able to do this and I think that any kind of fears that we have about changing our routine or changing what we eat or how we eat or anything about that, I think we have to push through that fear and give something that’s got such a record of success.
And you know, there isn’t anything that’s like this. This is a very unique program with unique leaders and push through that fear. Come aboard, get to know all of us because it’s fun because a lot of us are there just as friends now and as business connections and things like that. So there are so many things that we’re doing around this type of networking but push through the fear. Just come aboard and I promise you’ll see some results no matter what they might be. But I want you to do it, make this decision and make it happen, please.
I’m cheerleading upon Connie’s invitation into a new lifestyle with a group of generous supporting people under the empowering wings of Denise & Ellen! It did a difference in my life and I am convinced it will for you as well.
I clearly had a misconception about the ‘Intermittent Fasting’ process and to tell you the truth I never thought it would be so easy!:-)
We all fast each day while we’re sleeping, so adding a couple of hours on each end isn’t too difficult. By taking care of your health you’ll embark in a journey to meet the best of yourself. 🙂
Ready to give it a try? You’re only a click away!
Looking forward to connect with you inside the group.
Until next, much love and blessings.

So glad to be on this journey with you, Janice! This practice of intermittent fasting has changed my life as well. I must try the cold brew coffee again and see if it will become a part of my morning routine.
It’s an amazing journey and so glad am I too to travel this path towards wellness along with you Connie! 🙂
