Intermittent Fasting for Weight Loss and Mindfulness
Two weeks ago, I’ve decided to embark in a new adventure: changing my eating habits.
I joined the 10 Day Intermittent Fasting Challenge with Denise Wakeman and Dr Ellen Britt in which they taught me that intermittent fasting had absolutely nothing to do with a diet.
Their teachings are based on science and facts and the idea is to schedule the period of the day when you are eating, no matter what you are eating. This sold me to the concept!
I decided to go for a 16:8 schedule which means 16 hours fasting with an eating window of 8 hours.
From the time I wake up till it’s time to eat, I drink black coffee, unflavored water and unflavored tea. I recently added Cold Brew Unsweetened Black Coffee. The bottled version is available in major groceries from brands such as Starbucks and Stok.
Cold brewing is a method of brewing that combines ground coffee and cool water and uses time instead of heat to extract the flavor. It is brewed in small batches and steeped for as long as 48 hours. The resulting Cold Brew coffee concentrate has a velvety texture and nice cacao taste. Because there is no heat in the process, it has less acidity. Love it! You can even warm it up if you prefer to drink it hot.
As I was putting into practice the teachings from the challenge, I realized how mindlessly I was eating. Often, I was grabbing something in the pantry not because I was hungry, but to wash away frustrations, stress, and/or emotions. If you are a work-at-home entrepreneur like me, you’ll agree that we go the the fridge to find something to ‘munch’ on, sometimes simply to get away from our desk.
The challenge was so much more than just about intermittent fasting because on daily Q&A session, I learned how to see myself as a healthy person. Yes, I will lose weight, which was my main reason to join, but beyond that I shifted my focus on extending my ‘health span’ over and above my ‘life span’.
I am so excited to venture into this new lifestyle with a group of generous people supporting and sharing the things that worked or did not, and joined Denise & Ellen’s ongoing program because I believe it can make a difference in my life and others as well.
I clearly had a misconception about the process and to tell you the truth I never thought it would be so easy to fast. Lost five (5) pounds during the last two weeks and gained more clarity and focus in both personal and professional life. So happy! 🙂
If you are curious about intermittent fasting and how it can enhance your life and your business, I highly recommend that you check out Denise Wakeman and Dr Ellen Britt’s program: The Fast Factor Circle in which you will discover how to combine the extraordinary power of intermittent fasting with research-based practices both ancient & modern along with support, encouragement & inspiration to exponentially increase your well being.
