How To Get More Stuff Done?
How To Get More Stuff Done?
Here’s a Great Time Management Tip!
When I scanned through my TO DO list this morning, I had to stop and ask myself:
“Do you really think you are Superwoman? How in the world can you manage to effectively accomplish all these tasks inside a 24 hour period, taking into account that you need to sleep?”
Gosh.. Help! I must find ways to manage my time more efficiently.
I then logged unto my social media platforms to tackle the daily postings as it is important to keep up the conversations with our community and followers.
Doing so, I noticed a tweet from Barton McHard (@bm_glasgow): ‘Time Management Tips – Make It Happen Monday ‘ leading to the YouTube video below.
Just what I needed!
Ask, and you will receive. Right? 😉
Click on the video to watch Henry Evans share one of his tips for getting more stuff done.
Time Management Tips – Make It Happen Monday
In the video, Henry Evans, a renowned productivity expert, begins by emphasizing the importance of effective time management for accomplishing tasks efficiently. He introduces a powerful time management technique that he refers to as “Blocking Time “.
According to Evans, it involves breaking down your day into focused blocks of time. By allocating dedicated periods for specific tasks, you can maintain focus, increase productivity, and ultimately get more done.
Here’s a breakdown of how to effectively plan the ‘blocking time’ method:
Set Priorities
Begin by identifying your top priorities for the day. These are the tasks or activities that are most important and require your immediate attention.
Time Blocks
Allocate specific time blocks to each task or activity based on their priority. Evans suggests using increments of 25 minutes, known as Pomodoro, to maximize focus and prevent burnout.
Eliminate Distractions
During each time block, eliminate any potential distractions that might hinder your productivity. Close unnecessary tabs on your computer, put your phone on silent, and create a conducive work environment.
Deep Work
Dive into the task at hand with complete focus and concentration. Avoid multitasking and commit to giving your undivided attention to the specific activity within the allotted time block. [Note: check out Cal Newport’s great book on this topic: Deep Work]
Take Breaks
After each time block, take a short break to recharge. A five-minute break to stretch, hydrate, or simply relax before moving on to the next task. These brief pauses help maintain mental freshness and prevent burnout.
Adjust and Refocus
As you progress through your day, you may encounter unforeseen circumstances or unexpected delays. If a task takes longer than anticipated, adjust your time blocks accordingly to accommodate the changes and ensure you stay on track.
Review and Reflect
At the end of the day, review your progress and reflect on your achievements. Celebrate the tasks you completed and identify areas for improvement. This reflection will help refine your time management skills and optimize your productivity in the future.
Implementing these time management tips require discipline and commitment
However, the benefits are substantial. By breaking your day into manageable time blocks, you gain a sense of control and focus. This technique prevents you from feeling overwhelmed by an extensive to-do list and provides a clear roadmap to accomplish your tasks effectively.
As I finished watching the video, I felt inspired and motivated. Armed with this knowledge, I closed my Hootsuite tab and embarked on a journey to master the art of time management. I was determined to make the most of each hour and accomplish more without sacrificing my precious sleep.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by your daily tasks and yearning to be more productive, I encourage you to embrace the blocking time method. Give it a go and watch as your efficiency soars, your to-do list shrinks, and you become the master of your own time.
It’s time to make it happen!
