From Bookeeping to Online Marketing
Back in the 1980s I made my way up from bookkeeper to assistant-comptroller for a commercial real estate development & leasing company in downtown Montreal. I loved every moment of these 15 years of loyal services spent contributing along with team members to the company’s success.
I was thrilled when the opportunity to participate in the installation of a new computer system and also to guide, train and support all the employees in this transition was offered to me.
Be it said that I did own, at that time, a personal computer and enjoyed programming in Basic and play computer games such as ‘Where in the World is Carmen Santiago’ 😉
Much resistance from all departments had been part of the process, but nevertheless, we all got accustomed to a functional and operational computerized system that made our daily job more enjoyable and more productive.
As you know, nothing is permanent. Everything changes. So, came a point in time where the President of the company took the decision to sell and even though I was offered to hop unto the next owner’s bandwagon, I decided to take this opportunity to shift into a new type of professional revenue producing activity.
Loving computers and all internet related subjects, it took no time before my partner and I launched an eCommerce store selling new and used postage stamps to topical stamp collectors from around the world.
We kept this site up and running for almost 8 years. Worked hard, did not get ‘rich’ over it, but got the bills paid, and that was good enough for us. Then sold it in 2007 to a fellow stamp dealer member of the Canadian Stamp Dealer Association.
Fast forward to 2008 when I heard about Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge : ‘Make your first dollar online’… I signed up and went through the challenge that taught us to make money online with affiliate marketing ( since we did not yet have our own programs or products ) After 30 days , my bottom line was a whooping 0.82c affiliate commission from an Amazon product that I recommended in a blog post of a newly created website inside the challenge.
From that point on, I’ve created multiple websites and have been blogging in niches I’m passionnate about ( photography, stamp collecting, puzzles, traveling Scotland.) and launched another eCommerce store specializing in classic book cover art print.
You can imagine that people constantly came to me looking for answers about online business and web marketing. I helped them out to the best I could and with time became know as an expert in online visibility and online marketing.
Having success for myself, I finally set up in 2011 my consulting company and since then provide mentoring, training workshops and coaching program to individuals and businesses in need of increased online visibility to share their message, provide solutions to problems and promote their products and services.
I take my clients through a process that ensures that SEO, target market, foundational links to please Google, are all in place on their virtual assets and help them develop and implement a content marketing strategy to attract prospects, increase conversions and build online authority.
